Angela Pisciotta and Bertha Firebrace – Things of Yarn and Wood

Strathnairn Arts Homestead Gallery until 3 March

This beautiful exhibition is by mother and daughter Aunty Bertha Firebrace and Angela Pisciotta. Bertha is a Wiradjuri/Yorta Yorta woman, an emerging artist painting her stories on wooden objects and Angela is a Wiradjuri woman who has now been in Canberra for 24 years or so and calls it home. Angela works in woven forms including basketry.

Visitors will be struck by the vibrance of these works and their closeness to nature – the grasses, the animals and their environments.

A hands-on weaving mini-workshop on making armbands will be held on the closing day of the exhibition. Check the Strathnairn website for details:
