The Hyatt Hotel Friday 29 June 2018
Barbie was honoured to be a guest of H.E. Vice Admiral Paul Maddison RCN (Ret’d), High Commissioner of Canada, at a reception to celebrate Canada Day.
It is the 151st birthday of Canada and the occasion at The Hyatt was a delightful affair with performances of the anthems of Canada and Australia performed by the Telopia School Choir, toasts to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and speeches marking the importance of our alliance.
Originally called Dominion Day the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. It is celebrated on 1 July throughout Canada and by Canadians and their friends abroad. This event at The Hyatt was sponsored by Air Canada and was characteristically friendly and welcoming.
