Canberra Sinfonia

Exciting news with the announcement of a new semi-professional music ensemble for Canberra, led by the stellar Lenny Weiss and under the patronage of acclaimed Canberran soprano Louise Page OAM.

The Canberra Sinfonia was launched as a joint venture with Wesley Music Centre, at a debut concert at 3pm on Saturday 21 July 2018.

Canberra Sinfonia is designed for and by emerging professional musicians in Canberra. Three young professionals: Leonard Weiss, Alison Mountain, and Helena Popovic have joined forces to fill a musical void by creating a chamber orchestra for emerging musicians to bridge the gap between amateur and professional performance opportunities in Canberra.

In their debut performance conducted by Leonard Weiss, the orchestra presented two standout orchestra works of the Classical era: Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 in A major, K. 201 and Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in Bb major, D. 485.
