The Gentleman’s Companion is a new cabaret show. It is based on the popular recipes and cocktails of author Charles H. Baker who travelled the world during prohibition in search of alcoholic beverages and interesting people to drink them with.
According to producer Dianna Nixon, Baker’s book has fabulous recipes, ripping yarns, colourful language, and delicious cocktails.
Dianna Nixon is host and raconteur for the evening and will present a range of songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Christopher Samuel Carroll is dramaturg and director. The work is part of Good Company, supported by You Are Here and the ACT Government through the Creative Recovery and Resilience Program.
A cocktail degustation has been created especially for the show. The Gentleman’s Companion will be an AUSLAN interpreted performance.
