Jazida – a multi-award winning queer performing artist and person of colour – wrote and stars in Exotic Hypnotica, a one-woman show that explores what it means to be labelled “exotic” – racially ambiguous, erotic, Alien or other?
Jazida opts into a hypnosis program that promises to make everything better, but will she find what she’s looking for within her subconscious? You are invited to join Jazida on her hypnotic journey into her own mind
Exotic Hypnotica was developed through in-depth mentorship the Finucane and Smith Collective, funding from ArtsACT, paid 2-week residency at Belconnen Arts Centre, and support from Sidestage Production Services and a plethora of artists and performers.
The show includes original music, along with custom-mixed mashups and remixes,
Known for her high-energy performances and inventive choreography, Jazida has represented Australia at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas and toured workshops and shows nationally. Most recently, Jazida was named as #32 on the 21st Century Burlesque’s list of Most Influential Burlesque Industry Figures 2021.
