The Point is a new full-length dance work celebrating interconnections in design, movement and music.

Debuting on International Dance Day Thursday 29 2021, The Point takes inspiration from the designs of Walter Burley Griffin & Marion Mahony Griffin and the notion of Bindu – the “point” of  creation in Hindu mythology. It also marks the 150th anniversary of Marion Mahony Griffin, and Australian Dance Week.

The Point explores connections between people and place through the prism of light. Led by Liz Lea Dance Company, a multi-national company of dancers from across Australia and India have created  a work that draws from the power and beauty of classical Indian dance. The team includes leading Australian exponents of Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi and Kathak dance alongside prominent contemporary dancers from the ACT, NSW, Victoria and New Zealand.

The work will feature a lighting installation by award-winning lighting designer Karen Norris.

The Point is suitable for all ages. One empty seat will be left between separate bookings to aid in social distancing. Tickets purchased in the same booking will be seated together.
