Maria Pfohl and Siva Nathan – Colours of Nature

Kyeema Gallery at Capital Wines Cellar Door
13 Gladstone Street, Hall ACT

Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5pm
Until 15 March 2021

It is heartening to see galleries opening up after the challenges of COVID year, and the good folk at Kyeema Gallery in Hall now have a full year of exhibtions scheduled for 2021.

Maria Pfohl and Siva Nathan have exhibited together before and while their styles differ greatly their work hangs together well.  They bring a deep sensibility to their paintings, which pay homage to Nature’s restorative beauty.

Barbie talks to Maria Pfohl and Siva Nathan about Colours of Nature

Maria Pfohl’s luminous watercolours, especially her portraits of flowers are a joyous expression of her love of colour and testament to her capacity to capture the many moods of these floral forms. Siva Nathan enjoys experimenting with mediums and techniques. His work is notable for strength of line and shape; it powerfully evokes a sense of being present in nature. One can almost smell the soil and forest leaf litter in his  works.

Sharing stories of displacement as migrants to Australia, these artists have espoused the natural beauty of the Australian landscape, its flora and fauna. The work clearly expresses their generosity of spirit and will strike a chord with many in this time of challenge when we are all so appreciative of our gardens, the bush and the many beautiful places within our reach, even during COVID- restricted movement. for more information
