Barbie talks to Lenny Weiss about the Pines of Rome concert

Harold in Italy, by Berlioz, takes us back two centuries in a work inspired by Lord Byron’s poem Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage. Featuring scenes of pilgrims traversing mountains, a love scene and the sounds of carousing brigands, the brilliant and demanding solo viola part will be performed by Lucy Carrigy-Ryan.

In Respighi’s Pines of Rome the NCO presena the composer’s wonderful evocation of scenes from ancient Roman times.

Sadly, this will be the final concert of the NCO directed by Leonard Weiss before his departure to study for the degree of Master of Music (Conducting) at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, USA.
