Training Ground directors Suzy Piani and Bonnie Neate have just opened their new studio in Phillip and are working towards the company’s third major dance theatre production, Unhinged.
Unhinged is a psychological thriller based on the original story of Coppelia. It explores themes of control and manipulation, love, jealousy and obsession.
The Training Ground provides dancers from the ACT and region access to high-calibre dance training in a range of styles. It has a focus on pre-professional dancers, with weekly dance classes and programs, as well as performance opportunities.
Their previous performance projects, like this one, have provided dancers with a ‘dance company’-like experience and have seen participating dancers be accepted into tertiary and pre-professional dance courses, such as Sydney Dance Company Pre-Professional Year, New Zealand School of Dance, Victorian College of Arts (Melbourne University) and Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Edith Cowan University).
