Malachi Gilmore Hall, Oberon NSW
24 to 26 November 2023
The festival offers the Streeton Trio, specially created ensembles featuring the country’s leading musicians (soprano Susannah Lawergren, harpist Emily Granger, local clarinettist Peter Jenkin, oboist Diana Docherty and members of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Lucy and Johnny East purchased the beautiful art-deco Malachi site and it has been restored to its former glory and revived as a multi-purpose arts space, serving the community as it was originally intended.
The musicians will be on the auditorium floor, surrounded by the audience, allowing a particular sort of intimacy to the performances.
Music specialist and animateur Andy Bromberger will appear over the weekend, giving entertaining and informative free ‘Meet, Greet and Eat’ pre-concert talks.
There’s also a schools concert on Friday afternoon.
With celebrated works by Schubert, Beethoven and Ravel to the sensual tango music of Astor Piazzolla, the Oberon Chamber Music Festival is an opportunity for locals and visitors to enjoy a romantic weekend of music at a unique venue.
