Philip Miles – Fire and Ice: some Australian landscapes

Raglan Gallery, Cooma NSW
Until 3 December
Open Wednesday to Sunday 10.30am to 3.30pm

Philip Miles presents paintings of the bush after fire has gone through, along with  snowscapes and the Monaro region.

There are also older works by the artist depicting the Shoalhaven where he now lives, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains.

His interest in landscape began during high school in the Blue Mountains. Daily trips on the bus to and from school gave him plenty of time to observe the landscape.

He took up oil painting in his early twenties and found it to be the perfect medium. He also sketches in pen and ink at times. He is a studio artist working from reference photographs rather than en plein air.

Philip has won a number of prizes for his work and has had works published in Australian Artist and International Artist magazines.
