QL2 – REBEL Then.Now.When

The Playhouse, Canberra Theatre Centre
7pm 20 – 22 May 2021, and 2pm on 22 May

This is a three-part work delving into the major social issues of our day and of the preceding eras, in particular that time of much social change, the 60s.

Barbie spoke to Ruth Osborne, Steve Gow, Christopher Wade and Toby McKnight at QL2 about Then.Now.When

Then is the choreographic work of QL2 Artistic Director Ruth Osborne and her Assistant Steve Gow.  They have been inspired by the activism of the 60s & 70s and movements such as anti-war, civil rights, women’s and gay liberation, as well as the musical and fashion revolutions.

Choreographer Jack Ziesing has conceived the Now section. With the dancers, he has explored the chaos of the modern world and the empathy towards each other and the environment we will need to find the way forward.

REBEL finishes with When, a work by choreographer Jodie Farrugia, that looks at the idea of leadership pushing for social changes. It explores the things that hold us back from an equitable society and specifically at the more recent discussion of gender inequality.
