The exhibition entitled Natural Light is the first at Suki & Hugh for the trio who spent 2022 in Europe and Israel studying the old masters and painting their surroundings.
They’ve brought back their insights and applied them to the NSW landscape, still life and architectural studies.
The works in this exhibition are all oils and focus on the forms and atmospheric effects produced by natural light.
Edward Essing uses light and shade to produce harmoniously balanced compositions, while Sandra Brand creates mood and atmosphere using a more muted tonal range. Astro Spiller depicts the characteristic haze of the Blue Mountains.
