Illustrated by Anita Mangan
Spruce, an Hachette UK Company, 2017
I received this charming little bright pink book as a gift, possibly prompted by my recent habit of signing off my texts with three unicorn emojis (since visiting the Lady and the Unicorn exhibition at Art Gallery of NSW last year).
It begins with Unicorn’s 10 Rules for a Good Life and it is indeed a gift to be reminded from time to time of the rules for a good life.
- Every day brings something good, funny, new or exciting…jot it all down and remember to be thankful
- Your time is precious so spend it with like-minded unicorns and those who are important to you.
The rest of the book is a record of Unicorn’s activities illustrated simply and with wit, for example ‘Unicorn decided it was better to give than to receive’ – as he gazes at a teapot in a red cozy. The pages made me smile, and that can’t be a bad thing, can it?
