Jess Green, aka Pheno, is widely known and most recently for the success of We are the Skywhales in collaboration with Patricia Piccinini.

After performing Pheno shows for the past two years as a solo act, Jess is joined by long time musical collaborator Lachlan Coventry, who has featured in many of her jazz projects, drummer James Hauptmann and Alyx Dennison on synths.

The new show at The Street includes some re-arrangements of material for the four piece band, as well as new music, written during the quiet times of the pandemic.  

Born in Canberra, Jess Green returned to make the ACT her home in 2016 after many years working in Sydney, nationally and internationally, as a freelance guitarist and singer.

Jess has worked as an electric guitarist and vocalist on stage with Georgia Mooney (All our Exes Live in Texas), Katie Noonan, Clare Bowditch, Deborah Conway, Tim Rogers, Urthboy and Kate Ceberano, as well as recording, performing and composing in television, dance and theatre. PhEnO released a debut EP Dragon Year in May 2017.

Her career spans music genres including jazz, blues and rock. Recent highlights include: performing at the Closing Ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, performing at the 2019 Australian Women In Music Awards, and composer in residence at the 2019 Canberra International Music Festival.

In 2020 she was featured on the soundtrack for the Maton guitars exhibition at the Sydney Powerhouse.
