Kirstie Rea and Lucy Palmer curated by Aimee Frodsham
Suki & Hugh Gallery, Bungendore until 12 August
This exhibition which opened on Saturday 30 June, showcases the work of Kirstie Rea and Lucy Palmer. The common thread is a preoccupation with the Australian landscape and the way light plays on it. The exhibition was curated by Aimee Frodsham, Artistic Director of Canberra Glassworks.
Kirstie Rea has a practice in glass dating back 30 years. I found the photographic landscapes in this exhibition fascinating for their luminescence and delicacy. Lucy Palmer currently works from a studio at Canberra Glassworks. Her practice is in kiln formed glass pieces and her preoccupation in playing with distance and space. The works at Suki and Hugh are small lustrous gems that manage to give a sense great depth.
Suki & Hugh Gallery opens Thursday to Sunday 10am to 4pm. Other times by appointment. Find them at 38A Gibraltar Street Bungendore. http://www.sukihugh.com.au/
