Since then, the National Folk Festival has become one of Australia’s most enduring cultural events – an annual celebration of diversity, belonging, and exploration of what folk culture means in Australia.

Hear, feel and see how wonderfully Johann Ahle and his 17th century contemporaries infused the drama and passion of decadent early Italian opera into the German Protestant church cantata.
Robyn Mellor directs Canberra’s BlockSounds recorder ensemble, singers Maartje Sevenster, Greta Claringbould and Frank den Hartog, plus Ariana Odermatt (harpsichord) and Rachel Walker (viola da gamba), presenting some fine examples of the vocal and instrumental virtuosity for which this early Baroque fusion music is known.
